Session Information
 

Classes will be held at Coldstream Pool.  A session consists of 4 classes.  Children under 5 years of age will meet for 30 minutes.  Older children and adults will meet for 60 minutes. 

Fees:    Group lessons for children under 5      $30.00  per session

        Group lessons for children 6  and older    $60.00 per session



Session Dates

Session One - June 30th to July 3rd

Session Two - July 7th to July 10th

Session Three - July 14 th to July 17th

Session Four - July 21st to July 24th 


 

Class Descriptions

Tadpoles - Infants from 6 months to 24 months:    Parent participation is a must! Class is 30 minutes. Water comfort, safe entries and exits, games and intro to movement in the water.

Seahorses -  Toddlers 24 months to 4 years old: Parent participation is a must! Class is 30 minutes. A pre-beginner class for toddlers and older shild with separation issues.  Water comfort, floating, movement and easing the child towards independence from parent.

Guppies - Children 3 to 5 years old:  Child does class independently.  Class is 30 minutes. Beginner level class geared towards water comfort, exploration, floating and locomotion.  No experience necessary.

 

Rainbow Fish – Children 3 to 5 years old:  Child does class independently.  Intermediate class for the child that can float with assistance, is comfortable with face in the water, blows bubbles and has some locomotion skills. 

Any child that is under 6 years old and can swim a distance independently without noodle or floatation device must take a swim test to go into 60 minute classes.

 

Children 6 years of age and older – 60 Minute Classes

Bass – 6 and up:  No experience needed.  Class is designed for older kids that have not had the opportunity to learn to swim or have fears about swimming.

Class teaches floating front and back, adjusting to water in face, water that is over the child’s head, basic locomotion. 

Starfish – 6 and up: Must be able to move independently for a short distance with face in the water.  Must be comfortable in water over the child’s head.  Treading, developing arm & leg movements and intro to breathing with front crawl, back strokes introduced and intro to deeper water.

Octopus – 6 and up:  Must be able to swim one length of the pool.  Must be comfortable in the deep water and tread for 15 seconds.  Will work on rotary breathing, body position and appropriate stroke techniques.

Shark – 6 and up:  Must be able to swim two lengths of the pool with some rotary breathing, good body position and some strokes.  Must be able to tread for 1 minute.   Develop endurance and proper stroke techniques plus survival swimming.

Adult Stroke Development Class:  For those who either need assistance with stroke technique or endurance.  Focus is proficiency and endurance.

note:  All levels for all ages will have a day of safety “age appropriate” lesson.
